A Brief History
In the early 90s a young hippie, without even a high school degree, came up with an alternative to the illicit, dangerous and illegal substance ecstasy. It was a blend of all natural herbs and herbal extracts that exuberated an overall general feeling of great well- being and happiness. Hence, “Herbal Ecstasy” was born.
He started pushing this new product, Herbal Ecstasy at raves and other music festivals. It wasn’t long before it caught on to the general public and sales soared. It is has been reported that this young hippie, sold about 250 million plus in sales and that was only in the 90s. He is a self-made Millionaire. He truly is the Godfather of Herbal Ecstasy, the same way that Elvis is the Godfather of Rock-N-Roll.
It has until recently been sold freely at dance events, clubs, concerts and festivals. They contain various herbs and extracts that are claimed to be hallucinogenic and / or stimulants. Packaging and vendors claim that they are a natural and safe substitute for ecstasy. Although they may be herbal or an herbal extract they are not necessarily safe, with side effects similar to synthetic drugs.
Short-term Effects
Ephedrine (the key ingredient in Herbal Ecstasy) stimulates the cardiovascular and central nervous system. It may cause harmful reactions in people with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and other conditions. People with vulnerabilities to ephedrine can suffer from heart attacks, strokes, and seizures when taking the drug.
Long- term Effects
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned the sale of dietary supplements containing ephedra (ephedrine alkaloids) due to concerns over their cardiovascular effects, including increased blood pressure and irregular heart rhythm. The final rule became effective on April 12, 2004. The rule does not pertain to drugs that contain chemically synthesized ephedrine, or to traditional Chinese herbal remedies and herbal teas.
In conclusion, please be informed before taking any drug. The consequences could be deadly!
